Heather and Donald hosted their wedding on their beautiful property in Boutiliers Point, Nova Scotia. With 120 guests seated between the Palace yurt and the small stretch tent, a warm and inviting atmosphere was created. For the ceremony, tables were pushed to the side, set up in advance for a mix of 6 x 8 seating - 48 guests inside, plus 2 high tops for the kids. The stretch tent featured tables of 10, ensuring plenty of room for the dance floor and dessert later on.

The ceremony was a blend of seated family members, particularly the elderly, and standing guests, with about 60 people present to witness their vows. Although the reception was outside, guests flocked to the yurt and stretch tent when it began to rain!

The bridesmaids' dresses in light coral and pale sage beautifully complemented the fresh flower bouquets. Bouquets and boutonnières were crafted by Twig and Twine, while Heather’s mom and friends created the remaining floral arrangements using a lovely mix of Costco flowers and blooms from her garden.

Heather's brother cooked a lot of the food, complemented by a delivery from Boneheads BBQ. Friends and family prepared all the hors d’oeuvres the day before and the morning of the wedding—truly a display of teamwork! For sweet treats, 24 Carrots provided the cupcakes, and Heather’s mom decorated the cake.

A small sailboat, crafted by Heather's dad and the very one she learned to sail in, was placed under the stretch tent, creating a unique drink station filled with ice and refreshments for guests. They also had a beautifully decorated outdoor bar where guests could choose from Spritz and Dark 'n' Stormy cocktails. The triangle arch, purchased from Wayfair, was decorated by the group and placed in the yurt, adding a lovely touch to the ceremony.

This day truly felt like a community affair! Some of the most memorable moments included Heather’s dance with her 97-year-old grandfather and Donald’s nieces sharing the ring bearer duties with their pup, Nova, who took a nap on Heather’s wedding dress for most of the ceremony and dessert.

With friends attending from Scotland, England, Germany, and across Canada, it was a celebration filled with love and connection.

What Heather & Donald had to say:

Our experience with LFY for our wedding in August 2024 was exceptional! They are so kind and are so passionate about their yurts! The setup of the yurt truly is so impressive.

We had 120 people seated between the yurt and a small stretch tent. We pushed the tables to the side for the ceremony and then pulled them out after for just half the yurt so that we could leave room inside for the dance floor and desserts. We did the ceremony a mix of seated (direct and elderly family members) plus standing. The yurt made for such a beautiful and intimate feel and protected us from the downpour (one of the only rainy days in August of course) - and it even sounded so beautiful!

The photos were beautiful and we’ve had so many compliments - we could not think of a more perfect wedding day - and we’re so appreciative of Alex and Selene at LFY for making it so!
